PREPARATION TIPS :

What They Actually Test

1. Your Core Subject Knowledge

They will ask from:

  • Your degree (B.Tech / M.Sc topics)
  • Basics + applications

👉 Example:

  • Electronics → circuits, signals
  • Physics → optics, instrumentation
  • CS → programming, basics

2. Your Project Knowledge (VERY IMPORTANT)

Panel focuses heavily on:

  • Final year project
  • Internships

👉 They may ask:

  • “Explain your project”
  • “What was your role?”
  • “What challenges did you face?”

⚠️ If you don’t know your project deeply → rejection risk

3. Research Interest & Fit

Since it’s a project-based role, they check:

  • Can you work on research?
  • Are you interested in the project topic?

👉 Example:

  • “Why this project?”
  • “Are you interested in research career?”

Best Interview Preparation Strategy

1. Prepare Your Core Subjects (MOST IMPORTANT)

  • Revise basic concepts only
  • Don’t go too deep, but be clear and confident

👉 Focus:

  • 2–3 main subjects from your degree

2. Master Your Project Explanation

Use this simple structure:

  • Problem statement
  • Your approach
  • Tools/technologies used
  • Result

👉 Practice explaining in 1–2 minutes clearly

3. Read About the Project Topic

Example:

  • If project is on spectroscopy / electronics / AI
    → Learn basics about it

👉 Because interviewers ask project-related questions

4. Prepare Basic Technical Questions

Examples:

  • Definitions
  • Applications
  • Simple problem-solving

👉 They may start easy, then go deeper

Common Questions You’ll Face

Basic:

  • Tell me about yourself
  • Explain your project

Technical:

  • Core subject questions
  • Practical applications

Situational:

  • How will you solve X problem?
  • What if your experiment fails?

Documents (VERY IMPORTANT)

Carry:

  • Original certificates
  • Xerox copies
  • Resume
  • Photos

👉 Mandatory for walk-in process

Mistakes to Avoid

  • ❌ Saying “I don’t know” without trying
  • ❌ Memorizing answers (they ask conceptually)
  • ❌ Not preparing your project
  • ❌ Poor communication

Pro Tips (Real Advantage)

1. Think aloud

Even if unsure:

Explain your thinking process

👉 Panel values approach over perfect answer

2. Be honest

If you don’t know:

“I’m not fully sure, but I think…”

3. Keep answers simple

  • Don’t use complicated language
  • Clarity matters more than depth

4. Show interest in research

Say things like:

  • “I’m interested in learning…”
  • “I want to work on practical projects…”

👉 This matters a LOT in CSIR labs

Reality Check
