Educational Qualification
The candidate must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government. Those who are in the Final year/Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally, subject to the condition that, if called for an interview, they must produce proof of having passed the graduation examination. Candidates with an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate must ensure that the date of passing the IDD is as mentioned in the notification. Candidates with a Chartered Accountant certification may also apply.
Age Limit
The candidate must be between 21 Years to 30 Years i.e. candidates must have been born not later than 01.04.2005 and not earlier than 02.04.1996 (both days inclusive).

SBI PO 2026 pay scale Structure
As per the notification, the starting basic pay of a Probationary Officer (PO) is Rs 48,480/- (with 4 advance increments) in the scale of 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920 applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I.
The official will also be eligible for D.A, H.R.A/ Lease rental, C.C.A, Medical and other allowances & perquisites as per rules in force from time to time. The approximate CTC at initial scale of at Mumbai Centre is 20.43 Lacs.
Note- The candidates who will be selected have to execute a Bond for a value of Rs. 2 Lacs to serve the Bank for a minimum period of 3 years at the time of joining as Probationary Officer in State Bank of India.
Selection Process for Aavin Vellore Recruitment 2024
The SBI PO recruitment exam is the premier among the public-sector bank exams in India. It is considered a little difficult compared to the bank entrance exams conducted by IBPS. The recruitment process for Probationary Officers at SBI consists of 3 stages:
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
- GD/Interview
SBI PO Exam Pattern 2026
The bank has revised the exam pattern for both the prelims and mains exam. The total number of marks for each phase remains the same, but the marks distribution varies. The candidate has to qualify in all three stages (Prelims, Mains & Interview) with a minimum cut-off mark decided by the authorities. Prelims will be of a qualifying nature, however, Mains & Interview marks will be considered while releasing the merit list. SBI PO 2026 Prelims Exam Pattern
The first stage for SBI PO 2026 Recruitment is the Preliminary Exam, in which the aspirant has to qualify in order to get shortlisted for SBI PO Mains Exam.
1. There will be 3 sections in SBI PO Prelims Exam like any other PO Exam: English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.
2. A total of 100 Objective type questions will be asked in SBI PO Prelims Exam 2026.
3. The duration of the exam is 01 hour (20 minutes for each section).
4. SBI PO Prelims is qualifying nature and marks will not be counted while preparing the merit list.
5. There will be no sectional cut off in the prelims exam.
Penalty for wrong answer: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every question attempted wrong by a candidate. No deduction will be there in marks if a question is left unattempted or blank by a candidate.

Selection criteria for Main Examination: Category-wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Preliminary Exam. There will be no sectional cut-off. Candidates numbering 10 times the number of vacancies (approx.) in each category will be shortlisted for the Main Examination from the top of the above merit list.
SBI PO 2026 Mains Exam Pattern
The SBI PO Mains Exam will comprise of Objective & Descriptive Section, which is described below in detail:
1. Objective paper to be completed in 3 hours and descriptive paper in 30 minutes.
2. In the objective part, there will be 4 sections, namely Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation & General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, and English Language.
3. A descriptive paper will be conducted along with the above-mentioned online test and there will be 2 questions in this paper.
4. Penalty for wrong answer: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every question attempted wrong by a candidate in SBI PO Mains Exam. No deduction will be made in marks if a question is left unattempted or blank by a candidate in the exam.
5. Sectional Cut Off: There will be sectional cut off marks in the Mains exam. Each candidate will have to score a minimum score in each test in the Main Examination.

(i) Objective Test: The objective test of 3 hours duration consists of 4 Sections of 170 questions for total 200 marks. The objective test will have separate timing for every section.
(ii) Descriptive Test: The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with two questions for 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay).

SBI PO Descriptive Test
The Descriptive Paper of 30 minutes duration with two questions for 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay).
Besides the preliminary exam and the main exam, an interview process is also conducted for candidates who qualify for the first two phases of the SBI PO exam.
The final merit list is made based on marks obtained by a candidate in his/ her main exam and interview process.
Interview Process
A candidate who clears both the Prelims & Mains Exam of SBI PO 2026 will be further called for a GD-PI session wherein they will face a panel of selectors discussing their past experience and questions related to General Knowledge and of the Banking Sector. It is essential for a candidate to clear the Interview Process in order to ensure their final selection in the SBI PO 2026 Exam. The qualifying marks for this round will be decided by the Bank and the marks allotted to these rounds are: Group Discussion – 20 marks, Interview – 30 marks.
Final Selection
After a candidate has gone through Personal Interviews, a merit list will be prepared by the State Bank of India wherein the candidate’s score of the Mains Exam and Interview Round will be taken into account. Based on the score obtained by candidates and the available vacancies, final cut-off marks will be declared. All candidates who clear the cut-off range will be granted the Appointment Letter by State Bank of India for the post of Probationary Officer.

SBI PO Recruitment 2026- Important Points
The candidates should keep in mind the following points related to the SBI PO selection process:
• Biometric Verification: To ensure an error-free and secure selection procedure for SBI PO 2026, the bank may digitally capture the thumb impression of the candidate. This is done to verify the genuineness of the candidates. Any inconsistency in the biometric verification will lead to rejection of the candidature and punitive legal actions. Candidates are thus advised not to apply any kind of external matter like ink, Mehandi, chemicals etc. on their hands.
• Number of Attempts: The maximum number of chances is fixed for each category. Candidates who have used up all the chances are not eligible to apply. Appearing in the Preliminary Exam is not counted as an attempt but appearing in the Mains Exam is counted.

SBI PO 2026 Pre-Exam Training
State Bank of India may arrange pre-examination training for SC/ST/Religious Minority Community candidates at certain centres as per the guidelines issued by the Government of India. SBI may add additional centres or may remove some of the centres indicated for training. Candidates opting for pre-examination training should download their call letter for training by entering their registration number and password/ date of birth from the Bank’s website. No hard copy of the call letter will be sent by post.
SBI PO 2026 Result
All results pertaining to SBI PO 2026 will be made available on the official website of the State Bank of India, the governing body for the SBI PO exam. The SBI PO Result will be released after each phase of the exam has been completed. SBI PO Prelims Result decides the candidates’ eligibility for the SBI PO Mains exam. A cumulative score of the mains exam and the interview process is considered to prepare the final merit list of selected students. The merit list is prepared in descending order of marks obtained by candidates. Candidates who make it to the merit list will be given the appointment letter by the Bank of the Candidate’s choice.
