Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent from a recognised Board or University.
- For the Data Entry Operator (DEO) post at the Office of CAG, Candidates must have passed Class 12 in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.
- Candidates who are appearing in the Class 12 exam and awaiting results are not eligible.
Age Limit
To be eligible for SSC CHSL 2026, candidates must be between 18 to 27 years old as on 1/8/2026.

Nationality
A candidate must be either:
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to permanently settle in India.
SSC CHSL Number of Attempts
There is no limit to the number of attempts that a candidate can make in the SSC CHSL Exam. However, age limit is a factor that candidates have to be aware of. If anyone is out of the age limit, then they can not apply.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 (Prelims) Exam Pattern
Tier-I is an online objective-type exam consisting of four sections: English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.
- Each section carries 25 questions for 50 marks, making a total of 100 questions for 200 marks.
- Sectional timers have been introduced. Each subject now has a fixed 15-minute time limit.
- Total exam duration is 60 minutes (80 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates, with 20 minutes allotted per subject).
- There is negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
- Tier-I is qualifying in nature and used to shortlist candidates for Tier-II.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 (Mains) Exam Pattern
- Tier-II is also an online-mode Exam conducted across two sessions on the same day.
- Session-I (2 hours 15 minutes) covers Section-I, Section-II, and Section-III, all objective in nature.
- Session-II consists of Section-IV, the Skill Test/Typing Test, which is qualifying in nature.
- Sectional timers apply within Session-I
- Negative marking of 1 mark applies for each wrong answer in Sections I, II, and III.

SSC CHSL 2026 Typing Test
Module II of Section III for the SSC CHSL includes the Skill Test/Typing Test, which is conducted in Session II on the same day as the other tests. This test is qualifying, and its evaluation follows the guidelines provided on the Commission’s website.
Errors in the Skill Test are calculated up to 2 decimal places for accuracy assessment. The Skill Test/Typing Test is conducted according to the scheme outlined by the Commission, ensuring a standardised and fair evaluation process for candidates.

PREPARATION TIPS :
1. Understand the Exam Pattern
Focus on Tier-I and Tier-II and understand the subjects, question types, marking scheme and time limits. This will help you plan your preparation effectively.
2. Strengthen Maths & Reasoning
Build strong fundamentals in Percentage, Ratio, Average, Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Algebra, Geometry, Series, Analogy and Coding-Decoding. Practise regularly to improve both speed and accuracy.
3. Improve English Skills
Prepare Grammar, Vocabulary, Error Detection, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms & Antonyms, Sentence Improvement, Cloze Test and Reading Comprehension. Solve questions daily and revise your mistakes.
4. Prepare General Awareness
Cover History, Geography, Indian Polity, Economy, General Science, Static GK and Current Affairs. Prepare short notes and revise them regularly to retain important facts.
5. Start Computer & Typing Practice
Begin basic computer knowledge and typing/skill-test practice early instead of waiting until the later stages of the selection process. Maintain regular practice to improve speed and accuracy.
6. Practise Previous-Year Questions & Mock Tests
Solve SSC CHSL previous-year papers topic-wise and then move to full-length mock tests. Analyse every mock carefully and maintain an error notebook for repeated mistakes.
7. Follow a Daily Revision Plan
Study Maths, Reasoning, English and General Awareness every day, while regularly practising PYQs and mocks. Give extra attention to weak areas and prioritise accuracy before speed.

How to Apply for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026?
Step 1: Visit the official SSC website: ssc.gov.in
Step 2: Click on the “Apply” link for SSC CHSL 2026 under the Notice section.
Step 3: Register using your basic details (name, email ID, mobile number) to generate your registration ID and password.
Step 4: Log in using the generated credentials and fill out the complete application form, personal details, educational qualification, and communication address.
Step 5: Upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature as per the specified format and size.
Step 6: Choose your examination centre preferences. Remember, all three centre choices must now lie within the same SSC Region.
Step 7: Pay the application fee online (if applicable) through the available payment modes.

SSC CHSL 2026 Selection Process
The selection process for SSC CHSL 2026 consists of the following stages:
- Tier-I: Computer Based Objective Exam
- Tier-II: Computer Based Exam (Objective sections + Skill Test/Typing Test)

Note: Tier-I and Tier 2 now has sectional timers and candidates can no longer carry time between sections.
Application Correction Window
SSC provides a one-time correction window for candidates to rectify errors made while filling out the application form. For 2026, this window is open from 14 October 2026 to 16 October 2026. Correction charges apply: Rs. 200 for the first correction and Rs. 500 for the second correction, with a maximum of two corrections allowed.
Points to Remember While Applying
- Ensure your Class 12 qualification is completed on or before the application closing date.
- Double-check your centre preferences, as all three choices must fall within a single SSC Region.
- Keep your Aadhaar details ready, Aadhaar-based authentication is available (now optional) for identity verification.
