Selection Process for TNPSC GROUP 4 RECRUITMENT 2026
- Basic Eligibility: Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination, meet all other general/technical eligibility criteria under Para 4, and successfully qualify in both the Physical Standards Test and Endurance Test.
- Ranking Criteria: Rankings are determined strictly based on sports achievement marks over the preceding five years prior to the notification:
- Medal Priority: Gold medals take precedence over silver, and silver over bronze.
- Tie-Breaker: If two or more candidates share identical top achievements (e.g., same medal level), the next highest sports achievement within the five-year window is evaluated for final ranking.
- Certificate Scrutiny: An Expert Committee from the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu will scrutinize and verify all sports certificates. The committee holds the final authority to reject certificates of candidates who fail to meet prescribed eligibility benchmarks.
- Mark Allocation: Points are awarded based on standardized competition levels (International, National, State, Inter-University, and National School Games) ranging across Gold, Silver, Bronze, and participation standings.
This section governs the evaluation, ranking, and verification standards for candidates applying under the sports quota for Forest Guard, Forest Guard with Driving Licence, Forest Watcher, and Forest Watcher (Tribal Youth) posts.
Key Guidelines & Provisions
- Prerequisites: Candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks in the written exam, fulfill general criteria, and qualify in the Physical Standards and Endurance Tests.
- Ranking Policy: Ranks are decided purely on sports achievement marks over the past 5 years. Gold medals outrank Silver, and Silver outranks Bronze. Ties are resolved by evaluating subsequent highest achievements within the period.
- Certificate Verification: Scrutiny is handled exclusively by an Expert Committee from the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, whose decisions are final.
- Scoring Structure: Marks are awarded based on performance tiers across International, National, State, Inter-University, and National School Games levels.
