Selection Process for Indian Coast Guard Recruitment 2026

1. Scrutiny of Applications: Applications received are checked for eligibility, correct documentation, and prescribed formats. Shortlisted candidates are then issued admit cards.

2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must undergo document verification prior to the written examination, bringing all original documents and self-attested photocopies.

3. Biometric Verification: Thumb impressions and photographs are captured during initial document verification to verify identity throughout all stages of recruitment and final joining.

4. Written Examination: A pen-and-paper-based objective test of 1 hour duration consisting of 80 bilingual questions (1 mark per correct answer with no negative marking).

  • Syllabus: General Knowledge, Mathematics, General English, and Questions on the relevant trade.
  • Qualifying Marks: 50% for general/EWS candidates and 45% for SC/ST candidates.

5. Trade Test: Candidates who qualify the written examination are shortlisted for a practical trade test (where applicable for specific posts).

6. Final Merit List: Prepared strictly based on the merit position determined by the marks obtained in the written examination.

  • 1. Download and Fill the Form: Obtain the prescribed application format (Annexure-I) from the notification, and fill it out clearly in either English or Hindi. Affix a recent self-attested passport-size color photograph on the space provided.
  • 2. Gather Self-Attested Photocopies: Attach self-attested photocopies (with your name and date) of the following mandatory documents:
    • Valid Photo ID proof
    • Matriculation or equivalent marksheet and certificate
    • Higher qualification marksheet and certificate (12th/UG/PG/Diploma) as per essential eligibility
    • Latest category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) in the prescribed Central Government format, if applicable
    • Experience certificate (if required for the post)
    • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer if you are currently serving in any government organization
