Age Relaxation

Salary Details
As per the official SBI CBO Notification 2026, the initial salary of a “Circle Based Officers” (CBOs) will be in the scale of JMGS-I (Rs. 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2- 67160-2680/7-85920), at the start of the scale i.e. Rs. 36,000/- plus one increment for each completed year of service rendered in officer cadre in the Scheduled Commercial Bank and Regional Rural Bank.
The official will also be eligible for D.A, H.R.A/ Lease rental, C.C.A, Medical and other allowances & perquisites as per rules in force from time to time.
What Changed in the SBI CBO Eligibility?
Previously: For officers working in Scheduled Commercial Banks (other than Public Sector Banks and RRBs), there was a minimum annual gross salary requirement of Rs. 9.50 lakh to be eligible.
Now: This salary condition has been deleted entirely from the eligibility criteria. Candidates from private sector banks no longer need to meet any minimum salary threshold to apply.
SBI CBO Career Path
After joining, the selected candidates will be designated as “Circle Based Officers” (CBOs) and will be on probation for a period of 6 months.
The CBOs will be subjected to continuous assessment during the probation period to judge their suitability for confirmation. The candidates who qualify in their assessment as per standards determined by the Bank from time to time will be confirmed in the service of the Bank in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). If any candidate fails to achieve the minimum standards stipulated, his/ her services may be terminated as per the policy of the Bank in force at the material time.
The selected officers will be in the general cadre and will be governed by the promotion policy applicable to the Bank’s general cadre officers. The selected candidates will not be entitled to inner-circle transfer up to his/ her promotion to SMGS-IV Grade OR 12 years of service, whichever is later.

Selection Process for SBI CBO Recruitment 2026
The selection process of SBI CBO will be based on online computer based test, screening, Interview, and Local Language Proficiency Test. However, the Bank reserves the right to conduct a written examination. The Shortlisting Committee constituted by the Bank will decide the shortlisting parameters and thereafter, an adequate number of candidates, as decided by the Bank will be shortlisted and called for interview. The decision of the bank to call the candidates for the interview shall be final. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
Merit List: The merit list for selection of SBI Circle Based Officer 2026 exam will be prepared in descending order on the basis of scores obtained in the interview only.
Merit list will be drawn State-wise, category-wise. In case more than one candidate scores the cut-off marks (common marks at the cut-off point), such candidates will be ranked according to their age in descending order, in merit.

There will be no penalty for wrong answers marked in Objective Tests. If a question is left blank, i.e. if no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question too.

SBI CBO Experience
Bad news for all fresh graduates because SBI is demanding a minimum of 2 years’ experience as an officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank / any Regional Rural Bank.
SBI CBO Local Language
Candidates applying for vacancies of a State have to produce 10th or 12th standard mark sheet/ certificate evidencing having studied the specific local language of the applied State as one of the subjects.

A total of Rs. 750/- is to be paid by candidates belonging to General Category as the application fee for SBI Circle Based Officer 2026 exam. Points to know before applying online
• The candidate have to apply for a vacancy in one State only. A candidate applying for a vacancy in one State are not be eligible to apply for a vacancy of any other State.
• Candidature of the applicant are to be considered only against the vacancies in the State for which he/ she has applied/ opted. Merit list will be drawn State wise, category-wise.
• Selected candidates will be posted in the Circle of that State against whose vacancy they are selected.
• The selected candidates will not be entitled to inner-circle transfer up to his/ her promotion to SMGS-IV Grade OR 12 years of service, whichever is later.
